Noam Chomsky, a pre-eminent cognitive scientist, somewhat agrees with Plato who argued that children are born with unlearned, innate knowledge which is remembered in the soul. Chomsky has written and lectured extensively about his theory that children are born pre-programmed with rudimentary faculties through which we know how to learn, and through learning to know. He compares this faculty to an organ or limb we are born with which grows and develops with time, guidance, care, and usage. The Harvard psychologist and educational theorist B.F. Skinner also believed we are born with capacities for learning if not actual knowledge. These are the innate Hybrid Skills.
