Discovery Not Just Recovery. The Learning Framework of the whole child should be focused on Discovery of their truth not just on the Recovery of other people’s facts. This can best be achieved by ensuring that the child examines any issue such as Math or Trust for example by first recovering all the known facts about Math or Trust, then through questioning, uncovering new information about Math or Trust, and then using their critical thinking skills to synthesize these facts with their new information into their authentically discovered and truthful opinion – their Justified Belief – about Math or Trust. This process is no different than other kinds of discovery-thinking such as algebraic thinking, which uses knowns to make unknowns known. It’s just not yet best practice in learning environments.
